N2 - Summary. Sjögren’s disease (SjD) is a complex and heterogeneous condition that predominantly affects females in menopausal age. SjD is quite rare in males and often misdiagnosed or diagnosed with a considerable delay. Several differences in clinical presenting features, serological profiles and long-term outcomes have been reported in the literature with male sex apparently presenting a more severe disease with higher risk for lymphoma and increased mortality. In this paper we will review the most recent insights into sex differences in SjD and we will specifically focus on the contribution of artificial neural network methodology in patients’ sub-phenotyping and in driving individualized treatment in the era of precision medicine.
